Enerin commissions 400kW heat pump at GE Healthcare
Enerin has commissioned its V6 HoegTemp high-temperature heat pump at GE Healthcare, Lindesnes, Norway in a simple container installation with water, electricity and a steam line.
The HoegTemp is providing 400kW steam at a temperature of approximately 140°C for the distillation, recovery and reuse of solvents from the production of substances for contrast agents.
Part of the commissioning process was to qualify that all the functions of the high-temperature heat pump were within specifications, and that everything has operated safely within Enerin’s manufacturing specifications and the customer’s requirements.
“Enerin is pleased to report that the steam production is now operating in Auto Operation Mode. The delivery of steam pressure varies, depending on the plant’s demand. The HoegTemp is able to handle the varying conditions between 1,8 - 2,5 barg, operating the heat pump in correspondence with other boilers.”
GE Healthcare has undertaken a pre-engineering project for another plant on site, partly funded by the Norwegian energy efficiency funding body Enova. Enerin has been consultant throughout this pre-project, covering a 2 megawatt installation.
“As a potential supplier, we hope to be the chosen partner for the delivery of additional heat pumps to the Lindesnes site and potentially also to other GE Healthcare sites.”
Currently, GE Healthcare utilises different energy sources, but the company is committed to increase its CO2 neutral electricity fraction. Enerin believes that the use of HoegTemp heat pumps can contribute to reach these targets. Enerin delivers heat to GE Healthcare as a service, competitive to other energy sources.
